Membership Application & Acceptance Process

All 5 membership classes have certain requirements and verification before acceptance to the iAT. iAT is operated by a working board, and therefore there may be a lag between application/payment and full acceptance into iAT.

Due to this lag, we will occasionally grant access to the Member Platform, pending the next monthly Board meeting, or verification of submitted information. This access does not necessarily indicate that you have been accepted to iAT as a member.

During this lag, a director or committee member may contact you to verify information (for instance current good standing status with CATA). Should you not be accepted before the end of the Grace Period, the Board will be in touch with you with an explanation.

Payment of dues is a requirement to be fully accepted to iAT. We are unable to provide refunds. If you are questioning which class to apply for, or are not sure if you are qualified, please contact the BOD before rendering payment.

Any new applications (either new members or returning members who did not renew in Dec/Jan) could take up to a month to be processed. If you have concerns or questions during this time, or require access to certain materials in the Member Platform, please contact the Board of Directors directly.

Payment options are e-transfer, or paying by credit card online.

E-transfer incurs no cost for the member, or iAT, however credit card payments incur a fee of 3.2%. If you choose to use the convenience of credit card payment, this fee will be applied to your invoice.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: In order to be considered in good standing with iAT, it is necessary for all individuals to maintain good standing with the CATA.  Any changes to your membership status with the CATA (regardless of the type of change) must be reported to iAT within 30 days of such change.

All members must meet the iAT membership requirements throughout their membership period. Any changes to those requirements must be reported to iAT within 30 days.

Definitions of Terms

iAT has subscribed to the use of a Membership Management software system. This software system is highly functional for associations like iAT and allows for many functions including the management of member information, storage and sharing of vital information, and a public facing website and directory.

Some definitions of iAT terminology do not completely match those used by the software system. When viewing your account online, please note the definitions below:

Active: A member is currently ACTIVE in the Member Management System and has access to the Membership Platform. However, new members and membership renewals may not be immediately reviewed by the iAT Board of Directors to become an ACCEPTED member in good standing.

Accepted: A member who is ACCEPTED into iAT as a member in good standing has been reviewed by the board of directors, and has all the rights and privileges of an iAT member of their class. Members must be accepted each year.

Suspended: Member was previously ACTIVE in the membership management system, but has not completed the renewal process, or otherwise has not been ACCEPTED as a current member in good standing of iAT. Please do note that a ‘SUSPENDED’ status in your online profile does not indicate any disciplinary action by iAT -- there is no penalty for late payment. This is simply the term that the software uses to indicate a lapse in ACTIVE membership.

Pending: Some application requirements are incomplete in your member profile (payment, required documents etc)

Grace Period: After the end of the previous membership year, ACCEPTED members in good standing will continue to enjoy all the benefits of iAT membership for 35 days while their renewal applications are being reviewed by the Board of Directors. This grace period of 35 days is designed to acknowledge that the CATA membership grace period ends 30 days after the previous membership year, and it allows iAT members to update their status with iAT once they have renewed their CATA membership.

It is important to note that the Board of Directors only meets once a month, therefore, your official iAT membership status may take a few weeks to move from PENDING to ACTIVE, and then to being ACCEPTED as a member in good standing.
